February's Feature Practitioner: Amy Artmann| Sarah Healy Baby Sleep Expert
I am lucky enough to be in a robust community of compassionate and competent practitioners who are dedicated to supporting parents in the prenatal to postpartum stages of life.
Every month I will be featuring a practitioner and this month features a woman who is so loved by her community of parents--truly a kind hearted human.
✅ Early Childhood Educator
✅ Postpartum certified doula (DONA)
✅ BHC- Perinatal Behavioral Health Coach
But the true description of Amy is as follows:
❤️ Amy is a hand holder, a heart holder, a space holder and a witness.
❤️ She sits in the trenches with parents and bears witness.
❤️ She is an educator and she is a mental health coach and her families report how loved and held they feel in the presence of Amy.
Amy began her journey as a postpartum doula and quickly realized that perinatal mental health support is what makes her come alive.
Whether she is holding space for parents processing a traumatic birth experience, holding hands as she hears about the transition and adjustment into parenthood, connecting clients with other providers and support, or simply creating a space where parents can rest and receive the care they need, Amy's work of a postpartum doula can look different everyday and for her it is truly a joy.
For Amy, it’s a gift to look back at all the ways her clients have grown and changed. The comfort and confidence she sees when their time together is done is something that’s gives her excitement and pride without fail.
More than anything Amy wants parents to know:
A question I get often is “How do these other parents do this and make it look so easy?”
The answer is- they don’t and it isn’t!!
The postpartum experience is an incredibly beautiful metamorphosis, it’s also not easy! It can be raw, vulnerable, and true.
Support is critical whether friends, family, or a doula. We are all in this together no matter what you see on social media.
