This Mama loves motherhood and all that it is about~
Here is her story:
I had been practicing and teaching a strong Vinyasa Flow for many years before I got pregnant, and honestly thought I would be doing handstands in the delivery room.
But just six weeks into my pregnancy, I realized my body was shifting and doing extraordinary things.
My yoga practice would have to shift too.
Curious about what was actually happening in my body, I took a deep dive into pregnancy and found myself in a prenatal yoga class at only eight weeks pregnant. It was there that I realized my body, mind, and soul needed a different kind of support as I moved through pregnancy and into motherhood.
I began teaching prenatal yoga at six months pregnant and have never looked back. Pregnancy and motherhood are such ripe times to lean into the balance between strengthening and softening. The truth is, society does a really poor job preparing women for pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
The journey into motherhood with two young children has broken me wide open. It has been an unlearning and a relearning of what it truly means to be strong and resilient, as well as a deep recognition of how desperately we need community as we raise our children.
That was the impetus behind starting Metta Mama. At our studio, we teach so much more than movement. We build community. We help women redefine what it means to be strong, to let go, and to meet themselves exactly where they are in the transformative reality of the journey
More than anything Ashley wants parents to know that while parenting is the hardest job in the world and it can be all consuming, short bursts of quiet time can do wonders for calming your central nervous system.
We are all so intuitive and yet our busy world often distracts us.
❤️Give yourself permission to take 5 minutes to breathe deeply.
❤️Schedule time throughout the day to step outside and notice nature.
❤️Place your hand on your heart and repeat 5 times that you are safe.
We are so focused on taking care of our children, we often forget that we deserve to be supported and taken care of as well.
