Do you trust AI with your Baby?
I have seen this body of work change so much over the years and it has ben exciting and very satisfying to keep up with the questions, curiosities from parents as well as advances in research in this space.
But in the past year, there has been a change that is concerning to me.
The problem used to be that the internet was SATURATED with advice on how to get babies to sleep. This created decision fatigue and overwhelm for parents.
Now, parents are beginning to turn to AI chatbots to find solutions. While this may be cost effective, and expeditious, finding that AI chatbots, social media influencers, and online forums are giving misleading and unsafe infant sleep advice that puts babies at risk.
I frequently receive requests for support that start with parents telling me how they "were up at 3am scrolling the internet" to find the answer to how to get their baby to sleep.
Bottom Line: While online forums and Chatbots may provide you with a short term relief, it rarely solves the greater problem.
Babies are as unique as their thumbprints and to try to problem solve using a one-size-fits-all suggestion laid out in a PDF document can often cause more confusion than clarity. What is really needed is a clear understanding of the multidimensionality of of infant/baby sleep and a realistic view on what to expect at different ages.
In response to the demand for evidence based information, I have set up a series of offerings specifically catered to the needs of each family and to certain age groups.
